the School of Business Administration at The University of
Mississippi invites applications for the Frank R. Day/Mississippi
Bankers Association Endowed Chair at the rank of Associate or Full
Professor to start in August, 2025, or possibly January,
2026.Duties and ResponsibilitiesThe successful candidate is
expected to teach undergraduate courses in banking (finance) and to
perform duties assigned by the Dean of the School of Business
Administration and Chair of the Department of Finance. The normal
teaching load for a research-active faculty member in the Banking
Chair position is 2/1 (9 total credit hours for the Spring and Fall
semesters) with the option to teach summer courses for additional
pay subject to course and funding availability. A strong record of
quality research and teaching is required for tenure. This Chair
has a strong service requirement that includes Director of the
Mississippi School of Banking (a school for banking professionals),
interaction with the Mississippi Bankers Association, managing a
Banking Symposium that is industry outreach with typically 200+
attendees, and other duties that highlight the industry in
Mississippi, the region, and the country.Appointment: 9
MonthMinimum QualificationsTo be considered, applicants must have
earned a doctorate degree in finance from an AACSB accredited or
well-regarded business program. Candidates must have demonstrated
research and teaching interests in banking (finance). Candidates
should possess a proven track record of original research and/or
publication in top banking and finance journals, and must provide
evidence of a strong commitment to scholarship, effective teaching,
and service. No candidate will be considered who does not meet the
departmental AACSB standards for Scholarly Academics (SA).Interview
