Sr. Project Engineer -Location: Richmond, CA, US, 94806
-Business Unit: Zygo Extreme Precision Optics - -ZYGO seeks a
highly talented team player with strong technical and communication
skills to launch and manage development projects and new products
for custom extreme precision optical components. Under general
supervision with a broad scope of responsibility, indirectly
influence and lead a cross-functional team through organization of
workflows and development of processes, documentation, prototyping
and release for manufacturing readiness. Continue to support
production programs by evaluating and identifying weaknesses within
current processes leveraging modern process control methodologies.
Recommend and prepare changes, additions, and modifications which
will facilitate manufacturing. - - -Basic Duties and
Responsibilities: -
- Responsible for managing projects and product lifecycle from
inception to manufacturing readiness and post-production support,
leveraging NPI process -
- Review and understand customer needs, product specifications,
SOW's. -
- Review product requirements with design staff to ensure
compatibility of processing methods. - - -
- Responsible for delivering detailed Manufacturing Work
Instructions. -
- Create and execute against a detailed project management plan.

- Track project performance using appropriate KPIs, metrics,
tools, and techniques -
- Identify, Plan and Implement Process Improvements using
Statistical Process Controls -
- Provide Engineering support for assessing and correcting
deficiencies in manufacturing processes. -
- Responsible for reviewing completed projects and generating
postmortems. -
- May provide work leadership and training to professional staff
and production staff. - - -
- May interact with customers, managing customer communication
and expectations, ensuring customer satisfaction. - Minimum
Required Qualifications: -
- B.S. or M.S. degree in Physics, Applied Engineering, or
Industrial Engineering discipline. -
- 3+ years of hardware manufacturing experience (optics a plus)
or as a Technical Project Manager. -
- Must possess ability to prepare process development plans, cost
estimates, schedule estimates and write detailed technical reports.

- Must have excellent communication skills for interfacing with
other cross-functional departments, management, and customers.

- Must be a team player. - -
- Must be able to quickly understand and adapt new processes. -
Preferred Qualifications: -
- Basic knowledge of glass and crystalline optical fabrication
and optical metrology. - - -
- Knowledgeable in physical and/or geometric optics and have the
ability to read and interpret standard optical component
blueprints/specifications. -
- Have knowledge of document management software, preferably
ARAS. -
- Physical Requirements: - Walking, standing, lifting (up to 50
