    • Hold a current unrestricted license or multistate licensure privilege to practice as a registered nurse in North Carolina; -
    • Have two years of full-time experience as a faculty member in a board approved nursing program; -
    • Be experientially qualified to lead the program to accomplish the mission, goals, and expected program outcomes; -
    • Hold a graduate degree in nursing (MSN) from a regionally accredited institution; -
    • Have preparation in teaching and learning principles for adult education, including curriculum development, implementation, and evaluation, appropriate to assignment, as defined by the NC Board of Nursing. -
    • Maintain competence in the areas of assigned responsibility; and -
    • Have current knowledge of components of the nursing practice for the registered nurse and the licensed practical nurse.Preferred QualificationsDirector of Nursing is a 12 month position. Salary will be commensurate with experience.Position DescriptionIn addition to the duties assigned to an instructor, the Department Chairperson's responsibilities and duties include:
      • Serves as a member of the Instructional Leadership Team and participates in institutional planning, academic and administrative decision-making within the Instructional Area.
      • Serves as the communication liaison among the appropriate Dean, the Lead Instructors and the Department faculty.
      • Oversees the planning and maintenance of annual student learning and program outcomes within the department's programs for review in the College's strategic planning and evaluation process.
      • Oversees department equipment and supply purchases and budgets and recommends expenditures to the appropriate Dean.
      • Coordinates the development of the semester schedule in accordance with the Curriculum Schedule Timeline in collaboration with the Registrar's office and the appropriate Dean and Vice President for Instruction/Chief Academic Officer.
      • Reviews annually the curriculum standards for each program within the department, ensuring the college is compliant with NCCCS and other applicable agency standards.
      • Ensures appropriate courses of study, ICRs and rubrics are updated as needed and that current syllabi are available through the College website.
      • Supervises and assesses scheduled curriculum program reviews and enrollment management reports.
      • Plans and completes partnership events with local schools and employers and other initiatives to support the program.
      • Conducts evaluations and supports all nursing faculty while overseeing the selection of new faculty. -
      • Serves as communication liaison for other departments and administrative offices requiring information, opinions, or recommendations on matters relating to the department or its students.
      • Ensures the timely selection of departmental texts and the purchasing of textbook orders and ancillaries.
      • Coordinates program advisory committees within the department.
      • If governed by outside agencies, department chairs will ensure the department's programs meet that agency's requirements and compliance.
      • Accepts other duties as assigned.North Carolina Board of Nursing (NCBON) Responsibilities: Nursing Department
        • Ensure that the College maintains program compliance with the NC Board of Nursing (NCBON).
        • Represent Richmond Community College at NCBON, various healthcare boards, NC RIBN Collaborative Leadership Team, and other program meetings.
        • Evaluate new, and maintain current, clinical sites, and ensure clinical site and student compliance with facility and NCBON requirements. -
        • Ensure that all nursing faculty-including adjuncts--meet current NCBON requirements.
        • Review student applicant files-including students articulating to other institutions-and determine eligibility for, and progression in, Nursing Programs. In addition, coordinate Nursing Student Orientation and ADN Pre-Nursing sessions.
        • Meet at least annually with clinical facilities representatives to review current and future clinical/preceptorship experiences, and collect data related to student and program performance.
        • Reviews all student evaluations of instructors to determine trends and areas needing improvement.
