Job DescriptionTitle:Director of TalentDivision:Making Waves Academy Central OfficeLocation:Making Waves AcademyRichmondReports to:Chief Operating OfficerStatus:Full-time, Exempt (Year-Round)Supervises:Associate Director of Talent, Recruiters, Seasonal/Temporary Talent Support StaffSalary Range:$120,000-$130,000Position Summary:The Making Waves Academy (MWA)Director of Talentwill play an integral role in leading, organizing, facilitating, identifying,and selecting a wide range of talent - from instructional roles and non-exempt staff toleadershiproles. The Director will apply both strategic and tactical approaches in o supporting MWA to provide the best educational experience for students in grades 5-12. Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, the Director of Talent designs and executes a comprehensive recruitment, selection, and pipeline development strategy.They partner with key departments and leaders to attract top talent and create an enjoyable candidate experience for every applicant. The Director of Talent is accountable for the systems and processes that supporttherecruitment of equity-centered, diverse, and high-performing individuals who support the mission of Making Waves Academy. They maintain up-to-date knowledge of laws, policies, and best practices related to recruitment to ensure the department is compliant with all state and federal employment laws and regulations.Primary ResponsibilitiesStrategic Talent Development & Hiring Practices

  • Develop andimplement innovative recruitment, selection, and pipeline developmentstrategies, with effective sourcing of talent to generate robustsourcesofhigh-qualityteaching, staff, andadministratorcandidates to support the growth of MWA.
  • Lead and/or overseefull-cycle recruitment searches for all teachers, staff, and administrators.
  • Develop, refine, and execute anannual recruitmentplan to fill known and anticipatedvacancies in advance of the start of the academic year, as well as account for mid-year staffing searches as needed.
  • Coordinateprogrammingaimedatcultivatingpathways for internal promotions and referral programs for currentemployees.Partnerships & Key Stakeholder Relations
    • Promote MWA's brand by proactively cultivating pivotal relationships and recruitment channels through face-to-face communication, a presence in the MWA community, and through social media and other relevant marketing platforms.
    • Support strategic and lasting partnerships with local colleges and universities, as well as local and national non-profit and corporate organizations, to develop pipelines of talent for a teacher residency program as well as key ancillary positions at MWA.
    • Build strong relationships with MWA school leaders and keycommunity members, tosupport thealignment of the recruitment process with our programmatic goals and needs, our core values, and efficient processes for hiring managers and candidates alike.
    • Collaborate tightly with the Director of Human Resources and the HR team to optimize and develop effective recruitment and onboarding systems and processes.Data Analysis & Systems
      • Lead the management ofanApplicant Tracking System that facilitates aseamless candidate and hiring manager experience.
      • Conduct local and national talent research, analyze data, and prepare reports for leadership as needed to proactively identify trends,and/ormake needed adjustments to MWA's recruitment strategy.
      • Manage systems that track recruitment cycles with a focus on high-touch and high-tech strategies and tactics to create an exceptional recruitment experience for all candidates and hiring managers.
      • Create a system to routinely provide recruitment updates to hiring managers and MWA leadership as well as sharehigh-leveldata with the larger MWA community to show progress and status updates of recruitment efforts.Supervision
        • Assemble and lead a high-performing Talent Team through clear prioritization,high-impactoperational execution of best practices, and effective use of data.
        • Buildthecapacity of the team by developing and implementing systemic approaches to the work of the team.
        • Manage independent contractors, as needed, to fulfill critical HR functions i.e. teacher credentials.Additional Responsibilities and ExpectationsOther

            • Minimum 7+ yearsof successful experience in high-volume, full-cycle recruiting, including 3+ years of proven experience in the K-12 education sector
            • Recruitment or program management experience required
            • 3-5 years of direct supervision and experience leading a team of diverse members
            • People, program, and project management experience requiredSkills
              • Strong organization, interpersonal,andcommunication skills
              • Excellent networking, relationship building, influencing, and communication (written, oral, hidden) skills; the consummate headhunter
              • Ability to prioritize tasks and consistently demonstrate strongdecision-makingand judgment skills
              • Demonstrated knowledge of, and support for the mission, vision,andvalue statements including racial justice, policies and procedures, and confidentiality standards.

                • Bachelor's Degree requiredLicenses or Certificates Needed
