job requisition id REQ186263 Job Description:Summary:The Assistant
Director provides oversight and leadership for all operations of
the BioMed Faculty Administration (BMFA) Office. BMFA's work
supports both all Biology faculty under the leadership of the
Senior Associate Dean for the Program in Biology and all clinical
faculty under the leadership of the Senior Associate Dean for
Academic Affairs. With the Director, the Assistant Director
oversees and manages faculty recruitments, appointments,
reappointments, promotions, faculty compensation/merit, and
reporting for both regular and term faculty appointments. Advises
various Deans' offices, department chairs, department managers to
ensure compliance with University and divisional faculty policies
and procedures. Participates in strategic planning, collaborates on
new initiatives, and fosters a culture of continuous process
improvement.A campus-wide strategic partner for BioMed Faculty and
works collaboratively with Division stakeholders (Deans' offices,
Finance, Advancement, CIS, Biology and clinical departments., the
Office of Women in Medicine and Science, the Office of Diversity
and Multicultural Affairs) as well as University partners
(Provost's Office, Corporation Office, Dean of Faculty, the Office
of the Vice President for Research, General Counsel, School of
Public Health, BioMed and University HR, Workday Operations, Office
of Information Technology) on various faculty-related issues and
policies. Manages staff and provides professional development
opportunities. Serves on University and divisional committees as
assigned.Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's Degree (Masters preferred) plus 5-7 years'
administrative experience in an academic setting or equivalent
combination of education/experience
- Knowledge and experience with faculty administration a
plus
- Knowledge of other institutions' practices a plus
- Strong management/leadership skills
- Supervisory experience
- Ability to understand and interpret complex policies governing
faculty personnel actions
- Computer proficiency including word processing & databases
- Budgetary skills
- Possesses a willingness and ability to support a diverse and
