Range:$72,000 - $82,000Position SummaryThe Compliance Manager,
under the supervision of the Compliance and Assessment
Administrator, supports Making Waves Academy's compliance efforts
by managing a variety of projects that maximize compliance,
efficiency, and effectiveness. The Compliance Manager works closely
with the Compliance and Assessment Administrator and provides
direct support to the compliance team in developing, implementing,
and managing systems, processes, and protocols related to
compliance and governance. Finally, the Compliance Manager owns key
projects such as, but not limited to, supporting the MWA Board &
Committee meetings, board engagement days, accreditation visits,
and other high-profile visits related to compliance and
governance.Primary ResponsibilitiesCompliance & Governance
- Supports monitoring processes for compliance against local,
state, and federal laws/regulations/requirements.
- Manages a centralized compliance database and corresponding
email/file storage accounts.
- Assists in policy and program planning, development, and
administration; interprets, monitors, and analyzes information
regarding policies and procedures.
- Managing and supporting MWA Board meetings by preparing MWA
Board agendas, taking meeting minutes, posting agendas and minutes
in a timely way to address compliance expectations, and sending out
related materials to MWA Board Members.
- Take on special projects relatedto compliance as
assigned.Project Management
- Provides and/or supportsproject managementfor a variety of
compliance efforts, requirements, and deliverables (examples
include: WASC, LCAP, Williams Inspections, Brown Act, Civil Rights
Data Collection, and Student Accountability Report Card).
- Participates in the development and implementation of efficient
and effective systems for managing information, projects, and
communications tosupportaccurate and timely outcomes.
- Takes on tasks associated with new or existing compliance
requirements as needed.Research, Analysis, and Systems Management
- Provides research and analysis on a variety of policies,
projects, programs, and issues in support of the compliance team
and researches new or changing systems and programs.
- Inputs and manages data and information management systems and
documentation that support compliance-related activities critical
for school reporting to various entities including the state of
California, the county office of education (our charter
authorizer), or the federal government.Other
- Manages compliance requirements for posting, submitting, and
reporting and deadlines for projects owned by the compliance team.
This includes state submissions, website postings, board agendas,
etc.Work EnvironmentThis job operates inanoffice environment. This
role routinely uses standard office equipment such as laptop
computers, photocopiers, portable two-way radio transceivers, and
smartphones.Physical DemandsWhile
performingthedutiesofthisjob,theemployeemay be required toadhere to
the following:
- Frequently walk across the middle and upper school campus.
- Participate in campus supervision duty each week- Monday
through Friday frequency may vary based on the supervision
assignment each semester.
- Liftfiles,openfiling cabinets,bendor standon astool as
necessary, and sit for longperiods.TravelSome travelisrequired for
MWA-related events, such as workshops or
conferences.QualificationsExperience
- Minimum of 4 years of previous professional experience
- Familiarity with compliance work in K-12 or other public
education systems
- Demonstrated proficiency with common technological
interfaces/platforms (Microsoft Suite, Google Suite,Zoom,
etc.)Skills
- Demonstrated experience in project management.; ability to
handle small and large projects.
- Advanced time management, multitasking, organizational,
conceptual, and planning skills. Advanced skill in meeting
demanding deadlines. Ability to multi-task with demanding
timeframes.
- Highly effective and professional communication skills with
staff, students, and families.
- Highly organized, goal-oriented, and focused on outcomes
- Ability to communicate with and build relationships with
students and their families in the culturally and linguistically
diverse MWA community
- Political acumen and sensitivities to the differing
perspectives and political circumstances within all levels of the
campus and external constituencies
- Ability to exercise sound judgment and the utmost discretion
when disseminating information to the public, the campus community,
or the staff
- Professional orientation - appearance, communication,
organization, and attitude
- Ability to work collaboratively and independently with limited
supervision
- Ability to adapt and align on school-related

- Bachelor's DegreeLicenses or Certificates Needed
- Employment eligibility will include fingerprints, tuberculosis,
COVID-19 vaccination, and/or other employment clearancePreferred
but not required
- Spanish language proficiency is strongly preferred but not
required
- Experience working in student services for historically
underserved communities
- Familiarity with content management systems (CMS),customer
relationship management (CRM) tools, or Project Management
tools
