Status: Regular Part Time - 0.20 FTE

Salary: $48.03 - $59.99 per hour
Hours:
0800-1600; One weekday per week to be confirmed prior to start
Days off: Saturday, Sunday, and statutory holidays

As a Psychologist at Vancouver Coastal Health you will:


  • Be in charge of neuropsychological services for Richmond Mental Health Services.
  • Perform neuropsychological and other psychological testing on clients throughout the mental health sites and provides psychological treatment and facilities education of referred clients.
  • Work independently and as a member of an interdisciplinary team, liaise with external agencies in the care of clients throughout the healthcare continuum, attend clinical/case conferences or interdisciplinary rounds, provide formal and information consultation to team member and other healthcare facilities, and evaluate effectiveness and appropriateness of treatment and resources.
  • Participate in research, quality improvement and risk management activities, provide clinical teaching and supervision to Psychology Residents and students as required, and maintain electronic and paper client records including documenting client diagnosis, treatment, progress notes, and psychological reports.

    QUALIFICATIONS:
    Education & Experience

    • Graduate of a Doctoral level program in Clinical Psychology or Clinical Neuropsychology approved by the Canadian/American Psychology Association.
    • One (1) year of specialized training at a post-doctoral level in the study and practice of clinical neuropsychology and related neurosciences, and one (1) year of supervised psycho-diagnostic and psychotherapeutic training.
    • Current registration with the College of Psychologists of British Columbia or registration with the College within one year of employment.

      Knowledge & Abilities

      • Comprehensive knowledge of therapeutic, diagnostic and consultation techniques.
      • Comprehensive knowledge of neuropsychological and psychological assessment and treatment methods and tools.
      • Comprehensive knowledge of psychopharmacology (indications and side-effects).
      • Comprehensive knowledge of adult education principles, methods and tools
      • Comprehensive knowledge of other health care disciplines and their role in client care.
      • Broad knowledge of research process and methodology.
      • Broad knowledge of evidence-based psychological practice.
      • Demonstrated ability to function as a team member, leader and facilitator.
      • Demonstrated ability to communicate with, and deal effectively with, co-workers, clients and their families both one-on-one and in groups.
      • Demonstrated ability to work independently and in collaboration with others.
      • Demonstrated ability to provide effective consultation.
      • Demonstrated ability to teach and supervise.
      • Demonstrated ability to adjust to new or unexpected events, problem solve, and to deal effectively with conflict situations.
      • Demonstrated ability to establish workload priorities in collaboration with others.
      • Ability to operate related equipment.
      • Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.
      • Basic computer literacy to operate a computerized client care information system and word processing, spreadsheet, Internet and e-mail software.

        The hours of work including days off and work area may be subject to change consistent with operational requirements and the provision of the Collective Agreement and applicable statutes.As per the current Public Health Orders (Long Term Care/Seniors Assisted Living Provincial Health Officer Order and the Health Sector Order), as of October 26, 2021, all employees working for Vancouver Coastal Health must be fully vaccinated for COVID-19. Proof of vaccination status will be required.
