Job Description:

Chevron is accepting online applications for the position of Turnaround Machinist Planner located in Richmond, CA through December 2, 2021, at 11:59 p.m. (Eastern Standard Time).

Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to:

Accountable for the machinery planning and assisting execution of assigned downtimes.

Work with Turnaround Team Lead, Turnaround Maintenance Team Lead, Cost Analyst & Scheduler to develop cost, schedule estimates.

Validate turnaround scope is complete and assist scope inputter prior to phase 3.

Estimate large identifiable jobs early in Phase 3.

Work with Procurement to order and track long lead material.

Ensure plans are detailed appropriately in Primavera.

Develop Plot Plans and scope plotting density. Assist Turnaround Maintenance Team Lead on all deliverables for Peer Reviews. Plan all machinery scope change as approved including estimating, material ordering, and level of work instructions.

Document all lessons learned from all Phases of turnaround planning.

Adopt digital tools including Salesforce as rolled out for use and provide feedback to product owners.

Required Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma/High School equivalent.
  • Valid driver's license with a history of safe driving practices.
  • 2+ years of experience Machinery planning
  • Working knowledge of Compressors and Major Machinery
  • Basic knowledge utilizing Digital tools like Salesforce, MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.), and an aptitude for learning new software packages.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of safe work practices (LOTO, confined space, hot work).
  • Pre-employment online testing is required.
    Preferred Qualifications:
    • Experience supervising work for, or directly supporting, execution of refinery maintenance turnarounds
    • Scheduling experience (Primavera preferred).
    • Work experience in an industrial facility (ideally Oil & Gas, Chemical, etc.)
    • Experience developing job work plans for instrumentation work scopes
    • Must be proactive in communicating with all customers, peers, stakeholders and members of other organizations.
    • Communicates in a clear, concise, understandable manner, both orally and in writing. Listens carefully and asks questions.
    • Comfortable and competent in facilitating meetings. Stays accessible and approachable. Maintains a professional demeanor in all situations.
    • Ability to learn new databases to manage work packages and workflows.
    • Demonstrated ability to produce general replace-in-kind construction sketches for non-complex piping work scopes.
    • Experience developing cost estimates for mechanical and/or instrumentation construction work.
    • Demonstrated knowledge of project planning and execution principles.

      Measures personal characteristics important to success in the job applied for. Chevron's tests are focused on industrial aptitudes.

      You will be immediately directed to the testing portal upon submittal of your application, at which point you will have 72 hours to complete the on-line assessment.

      The assessment can be accessed via the URL emailed or via your Workday Home Page.

      The assessment will take 2 hours to complete.

      Chevron's tests are focused on industrial aptitudes. However, Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB) test preparation guides may be helpful in preparation for these tests. Candidates should focus on mechanical aptitude, reading comprehension, understanding information in tables and graphs, and understanding industrial math.
