Aspire Public Schools is mandating COVID-19 vaccination and testing, which varies between *LAUSD co-located and non-co-located school sites. Together, we will change the odds for underserved students, ensuring that every student is prepared to earn a college degree.The Parent Outreach Coordinator assists the Principal, Business Manager, and Assistant Principal in developing and implementing a comprehensive program to increase and deepen family engagement in support of student education and a school culture of "College for Certain." The Family Coordinator works to enlist and engage culturally and linguistically diverse family groups in program activities.What You Will Do:

  • Help the school community develop a family-friendly school climate amongst staff, students and families.
  • Develop programs and activities designed to engage families in improving student achievement.
  • Support staff and families to develop strong academic partnerships.
  • Enhance communication between families, school and the district.
  • Develop and implement effective family involvement strategies to empower families as key decision makers in school governance committees such as: School Site Council & English Learner Advisory Council.
  • Coordinate and support school wide governance council and committees.
  • Promote and participate in school/ district activities and programs for families.
  • Recruit partners to become part of the school's family involvement program.
  • Organize, implement, coordinate and present family education workshops and training sessions.
  • Prepare and disseminate newsletters and other school communication materials for school communities.
  • Develop volunteer activities at school site, including coordinating family leaders, room parents, volunteers, etc.
  • Collect and evaluate the data of family involvement activities.
  • Provide support resources and referrals to families as needed.
  • Prepare monthly family engagement plans and maintain records on program activities.
  • Maintain monthly log with focal families at school site.
  • Attend professional development sessions which are organized and led by regional office.
  • Report monthly activities and goals to school staff and community partners.What You Will Bring:
    • Experience organizing families and/or community partners
    • Strong event management skills from idea through execution and evaluation
    • Excellent relationship-building and management skills
    • Strong communication, presentation and interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to write clearly and persuasively and interact effectively with different audiences
    • Strong organization, time management and follow-up skills; high sense of urgency; demonstrated ability to successfully handle multiple projects concurrently; ability to work as a team
    • Bilingual and biliterate - Spanish speaking and writing
    • Experience with leadership, including demonstrated strength in culture-building and leading peers
    • Knowledge of Aspire procedures and policies related to students
    • Demonstrated commitment to students and learning
    • Social work or mental health background or degree desired
    • Bilingual - Spanish and English Proficient in Reading, Writing, and Speaking
    • Bachelor's degree strongly recommended
