NHP experience
We are seeking exceptional candidate(s) for our Research Associate positions.

Hours: 7am-4pm, Monday-Friday (Some Weekends and Overtime)
SALARY:Research Associate I:70k-78K (1 or 2 years of experience in laboratory animal science experience)Research Associate II:79K-95K (3-5 years of experience in related laboratory animal science)Research Associate III:89k-100K (5+ years of experience in laboratory animal science experience)
GENERAL SUMMARY:Research Associate works under the direct guidance of the Site Head and the general guidance of the senior staff. Research Associate is proficient in animal procedures/animal husbandry, grant, internal, and/or contract research studies according to the study protocols and to the company guidelines and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:Proficient as a primary technician and in all aspects of a study cycle including, but not limited to:

  • Primary Technician role and responsibility on multiple basic studies
  • Receipt, distribution, and husbandry of animals;
  • Orders and setups materials and supplies as required for projects;
  • Forms and study books preparation;
  • Dose calculation/verification;
  • Proficient technical skills (e.g. administration, blood collection, necropsy, etc.) ranging from basic to intermediate;
  • Anesthesia monitoring and use of anesthetics;
  • Observes, records, and reports atypical findings to veterinary staff or senior personnel;
  • Performs data quality control review according to SOPs or study protocols; or may function as a designated trainer.
  • May work directly with Study Coordinators and/or Scientists on assigned projects.
  • Comprehends procedures and performs tasks according to company policies and SOPs.
  • Complies with all regulatory guidelines, occupational health as well as health and safety programs, in accordance with company policies and procedures.
  • Performs all other duties as required.
    • Research Associate I performs duties according to written protocols and company-established SOPs.
    • Exercises independent judgment to solve problems, edit and create documents, involved in establishing new processes.
    • Obtains assistance or reports problems to the manager or senior personnel.
      • Provides information to improve current procedures or methods.
        • No direct reports.
          MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:Education Work Experience
          • AS or BS Degree in Science (or equivalent degree) preferred.
          • Certifications preferred: ALAT, LAT, LATG

            NHP experience
            Research Associate I: 1 or 2 years of experience in laboratory animal science experienceResearch Associate II: 3-5 years of experience in related laboratory animal scienceResearch Associate III: 5+ years of experience in laboratory animal science experience
            An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted as satisfactory.
            • Personnel working with animals or animal-derived samples must provide proof of measles (MMR- Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or updated titer prior to initial contact with animals or animal-derived samples.
            • Personnel working with animals or animal-derived samples must provide documented proof of a current negative result of TB testing within the past calendar year or be tested prior to initial contact with animals. Annual tuberculosis screening is required of all employees working in the laboratory setting.
            • Physical dexterity to lift 50 - 100 lb. in weight.
            • Manual dexterity to operate facility equipment.
            • Visual acuity to handle potentially hazardous chemicals, cleaners, biologics (including, but not limited to direct handling of human byproducts and viruses), and/or sharps.
              • Biological safety level (BSL) 1 and 2 laboratory and vivarium settings.
              • Potential for exposure to disinfectants, chemicals, biologics, animal dander, and dust.
              • Normal scientific laboratory conditions.
              • May work with hazardous materials and unpleasant odors.
