Summary of Role:
As a system validation engineer, you will support SunPower's
residential solar and energy storage products. You will define test
methodologies, design test fixtures, and automate processes for
system operation, data gathering, and results reporting. Your work
will ensure that our current and future energy storage systems
perform as expected to meet customer requirements.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Runs in-depth testing, detects problems, recommends solutions, and
determines if feature requirements have been met.
Identifies, analyzes, reproduces, and gathers detailed failure
information to resolve system defects in conjunction with the
development team
Develops test plans and executes test procedures for new hardware
and firmware features
Documents and maintains test cases and test results in the test
case management tool
Performs tests in the lab with electrical hardware and test
equipment including power meters, e-loads, and oscilloscopes
Develops and executes automated test suites to monitor for failures
and periodically reviews to assess test coverage
Designs and implements AC (240V split phase, 480V, 3?) and DC power
circuits using correct safety techniques
Minimum Qualifications:
BS or MS degree in Electrical Engineering or similar field
4+ years of experience in hardware or system validation
Proven experience with test plan development, automated testing,
and continuous integration
Ability to automate testing using Python, C/C++, LabVIEW, or
similar programming languages
Knowledge of power electronics, battery storage systems, solar
generation systems, or equivalent system testing.
Proficient in hardware communication protocols such as CAN, RS-485,
and/or TCP/IP
Experience with TestRail or similar test management tool
Familiar with Jira or similar issue and bug tracking system
Essential Qualifications:
Understanding of the product life cycle and testing of products
from inception to end of life
Excellent interpersonal, communication, and writing skills
Comfortable working on a fast-paced, global team
Detail-oriented and organized
Preferred Qualifications:
Adept at PCBA design validation
Experience with Git workflow
Familiarity with Linux
Expertise in troubleshooting networking, wireless connectivity,
and/or power line communications issues
Physical Demands and Working Conditions:
Ability to work in a lab with electrical hardware and test
equipment
Must be local
No travel required
Pay Range
$103,368 - $155,520*
Other rewards may include annual bonus eligibility, short and
